JOE NICHOLS TO HOST ONE HOUR SHOW FOR SIRIUSXM’S Y2KOUNTRY CHANNEL

Friday, July 31, 2020 - 9:30am

Multi-Platinum recording artist Joe Nichols is set to host one hour of programming for SiriusXM’s Y2Kountry. The aptly named “Joe’s Place” debuts tomorrow, August 1, at 5 p.m. ET and will feature songs curated by Nichols with his personal connections to the songs and artists woven into each show. Each episode will also feature a live musical performance from Nichols making his the first artist-hosted show to include a live music component. New episodes of the series air the first Saturday of every month.

“I’m so excited to be expanding my relationship with the SiriusXM family by hosting my own show on Y2Kountry," shared Nichols. "It’s a real full circle moment from the days I hosted the overnight show in Arkansas as a teenager, but now I get to play what I want! I hope the listeners enjoy coming along on this new journey with me as we kick off 'Joe’s Place'!”

Nichols has been making the most of his time in quarantine. “Joe’s Place” follows a weekly series that aired on his socials entitled “Merle Mondays.” Created as an homage to his musical hero, Merle Haggard, the series featured covers of some of Merle’s greatest songs. Fans can catch Nichols’ smooth, baritone voice and sincere appreciation for the format’s traditional roots, with all episodes from the series’ run available on Nichols’
Instagram and Facebook pages.

The online series was inspired by Nichols’ participation in the #DeepCutsChallenge circulating among Nashville’s finest during the current quarantine. When challenged by Blake Shelton on
Instagram, Nichols responded with a cover of Merle Haggard’s “If I Could Only Fly” and in turn called on Garth Brooks to take part in the challenge. Brooks accepted and responded to Nichols during a Facebook live, “he sings Haggard almost as good as Haggard does.”

Nichols has proudly been a flag bearer of traditional country music throughout his career while also earning six No. 1 hits, even recording a series of classic country covers in 2018, titled “Never Gets Old: Traditional Country Series.” The series included a haunting rendition of Haggard’s “Sing Me Back Home,” an emotional ballad about an inmate on his way to be executed.
