Sony/ATV Music Publishing, who was recently named BMI Publisher of the Year, announced that it has signed singer/songwriter Levi Hummon.
Named a “New Music Favorite” by Ticketmaster and one of Entertainment Weekly’s "Breaking Big in Country: 5 New Artists to Hear Now," the born-and-bred Nashville native has written songs with some of Music City’s most notable writers, including Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, Jonathan Singleton, Brandy Clark, Trevor Rosen and more. In a recent profile about Hummon by The Tennessean, the article notes that “Hummon’s ascent showcases a new Nashville, where artists can use streaming to build a fan base and then navigate their career independently until the right label partnership comes along.” The signage with Sony/ATV is proving that Hummon’s patience for the right partner is paying off.
Of the new signage, Hummon says, "I'm so excited to be a part of the Sony/ATV family. My dad loved his time spent over there, and I'm looking forward to continuing his legacy while building my own unique catalog. You can really feel a great energy the second you walk through their doors."
“We are thrilled to join forces with Levi & Desmond, says Josh Van Valkenburg, Senior Vice President of A&R, Sony/ATV. "Both men bring the highest level of talent, character, and determination to our team. This will be a fantastic partnership.”
Hummon's current single "Songs We Sang" has amassed over 1.3M streams since its release in March and is currently spinning on SiriusXM's The Highway.
ABOUT LEVI HUMMON
Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Levi Hummon was surrounded by music greats; however, it wasn’t until he was studying painting in college that he began to explore his dormant musical talents – singing and songwriting – as a way to navigate his life and relationships. He quickly developed his own unique personal sound with the help of his father, GRAMMY-Award winning songwriter Marcus Hummon. Hummon soon found himself working with notable songwriters such as Jimmy Robbins, Shane McAnally, Andrew Dorff, Josh Osborne, Jonathan Singleton, Nathan Barlowe, Brandy Clark, Trevor Rosen and more. Hummon also wrote with legendary entertainer Steven Tyler on his most recent single “Red, White and You.” Hummon’s single “Guts and Glory” gained national attention from iconic truck brand, Ram Trucks, sponsoring Levi’s 2016 tour and positioning him as the 2017 spokesperson for the Ram Truck brand.
With over 17 million streams in less than a year as an independent artist for “Don’t Waste the Night” and “Stupid,” Hummon has been named one of Entertainment Weekly’s 5 Breaking Artists Now and one of Rolling Stone’s “Artists You Need to Know.” “Stupid,” which debuted on Billboard’s Top Country Songs chart and remained for two weeks as the only song on the chart by an unsigned artist, has reached over 10 million digital streams and was named to Amazon’s 2017 Best of Country Songs list. Hummon’s current single, “Songs We Sang,” is available now. For more information, visit www.levihummon.com or follow him on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
